Membrane Switches
Since 1972, Dyna-Graphics Corporation has evolved from a small screen printer to a world leader as a custom-designed membrane switch manufacturer, as well as specializing in graphic overlays. Dyna-Graphics supplies a wide range of industries with custom membrane switches, including agricultural-electronics (sometimes referred to as “agro-electronics” – electronics used in agricultural equipment), medical, fitness and the scientific instrumentation sectors. Focusing on small to medium volume production of membrane switches, Dyna-Graphics will custom design and produce a membrane switch to meet the customer’s specific requirements and needs.
Custom Membrane Switch
Dyna-Graphics has the wide-ranging capability to produce a wide variety of custom membrane switches, including metal dome tactile membrane switches, non-tactile membrane switches, plastic dome tactile membrane switches, and K-Motion membrane switches. In addition, Dyna-Graphics can also custom manufacture a membrane switch line with embedded LEDs (light emitting diodes), depending on the customer’s need for backlighting and/or front panel illumination. Dyna-Graphics also produces a rugged line of the membrane switch, to meet applications where the membrane switch would see some hard use – even abuse – from sharp objects, such as screwdrivers, pens, or other pointed instruments, that are used by end users.
Non-tactile Membrane Switch
Dyna-Graphics also produces custom non-tactile membrane switches for a wide variety of uses. Simply put, a non-tactile membrane switch is manufactured without any sort of snap action. The non-tactile membrane switches designed by Dyna-Graphics include micro-travel with actuation forces in the 4- to 8-ounce range, dependent on the spacer used. As noted above, embedded LEDs (light emitting diodes) can be attached to the conductive silver traces for display areas and lighted windows. Both non-tactile membrane switches and metal dome tactile switches have been cycled well over 5 million times, ensuring high reliability in the custom Dyna-Graphics’ line of K-Motion membrane switches is another very cost-effective membrane switch to meet the demanding requirements of a wide range of client applications.
Features of the K-Motion membrane switch include:
- A dielectric withstanding voltage of 500 Volts DC for 120 seconds
- Actuation testing of 5 million cycles with 10 mil Velvet Lexan, showing no damage to the membrane switch or fascia
- Conductive silver pad areas are separated by a screened dielectric spacer, usually by dielectric dots – ideal in environments where low actuation forces are needed
Heat-stabilized 5 mil polyester with 3M 200MP adhesives, and silver-filled conductors with ultraviolet (UV) cured dielectricer’s application.
